The island's largest religious gathering after the November feast. On 3 September 1953 the relics of Saint Nektarios were translated, and the monastery he founded at Kontos keeps the date every year. Expect thousands of pilgrims, full ferries from Piraeus, heavy traffic on the road to the monastery and limited parking.
In previous years the pattern has been Vespers and a procession of the relic on the evening of the 2nd, followed by an all-night vigil and Divine Liturgy on the 3rd. The monastery is at Kontos, about 7 km from Aegina Town, reachable by bus, taxi or car.
