The 36-year-old guard (1.94 m) joined Mykonos Betsson two years ago and became an important member of Vangelis Ziagos' team, contributing with his experience and quality to the historical rise in Stoiximan GBL, participation in the playoffs, as well as qualifying for the Final Eight of the Greek Cup.
In the season completed, Vangelis Mantzaris scored 3.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 24 entries in the regular season, staying on the floor on average for 16.4 minutes per game. In the playoffs, he counted 1.5 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in the two quarter-final series against Panathinaikos AKTOR.
"Mykonos hugged me from the first moment"
Speaking to mykonosbc.gr, the experienced guard commented on the renewal of his partnership with Mykonos Betsson, stressing the importance of stability in his career and his association with the club: "After Olympiacos, Mykonos is the first team in which I have remained for more than a year, so this is very important to me. In general I like stability, but unfortunately I did not have it to the extent that I would like in previous years. Mykonos hugged me from the first moment I came, when she still participated in the Elite League, and together we achieved the goal of rising. It now opens a new chapter, a new challenge. It's a great incentive for me personally and for the team to respond as the bar is up. We have created high expectations and that is why we must continue to work hard."
Vangelis Mantzaris referred to his role in the group, stressing: "Really, what I feel is that now, at 36, I enjoy the game more. I try every child who comes to advise him and give him the best I can on my part, based on my experience. I don't know if I've seen better chemistry on a team since last year! Everyone was really ready to listen, to put their ego under the whole, which is very important and is the main reason that Mykonos achieved its goals.
