An alarm signaled at noon on Wednesday (17/6) to the port authorities of Mykonos, when a professional tourist catamaran of a Greek flag presented mechanical damage and was left ungoverned in the sea area north of Delos, resulting in the immediate mobilisation of forces of the Port Corps and sailing vessels.

According to the Port Corps, the incident was notified to the Mykonos Port Authority by the Single Research and Rescue Coordination Centre (ECSED). Three crew members and twelve foreign passengers, including ten United States nationals and two Finnish nationals, were aboard.

At the point ‘DELOS EXPRES’ and two other speedboats
Directly in the area they rushed the passenger-route ship "DELOS EXPRES", which was running a scheduled route to Delos, the speedboat "GOUGU" with boarding officers of the Port Corps, as well as the speedboat "BLOU ESKEIP".

With the assistance of the "DELOS EXPRES", the ungoverned catamaran was removed in time from a rocky area, preventing the risk of docking. At the same time, passengers were transported with the boat's auxiliary boat and the "BLOU ESKEIP" to the bay of Ornos Mykonos, where they landed safely and without facing health problems.

The tourist catamaran was then taken to the new port of Mykonos with the assistance of the passenger-route ship "MARGARITA X" and the escort of a waterway through the Port Corps, where it docked safely.

The Mykonos Port Authority holds a preliminary hearing on the circumstances of the incident, while prohibiting the vessel's departure until the intended certificate of airworthiness is presented. The incident did not cause marine pollution.
