Dimitris Lignadis went to the Court of Appeals shortly after 08:00 in order to begin his case in a second degree.
The well-known director and actor, who had been sentenced to 12 years in prison for two rapes, is now facing possibility of stricter criminal treatment.

The court accepted the prosecutorial appeal against the original decision, resulting in the defendant being re-trialed for three rapes of minor boys, which concern incidents in Epidaurus and Metaxourgery.
Today, the Mixed Jury Court is expected to decide on the request of Dimitris Lignades' defence for appointing a special psychologist or psychiatrist as an expert, in order to assess the mental state and perceived ability of the complainants.
