The choice of the Palace of Versailles for signature of the understanding memorandum between the United States and Iran it was not because of its glamour or historical glamour, but because of the particular symbolism linking the emblematic monument to the rebirth of the United States and the long history of relations between France and America, according to what French President Emmanuel Macron revealed.
Despite the fact that the Palace of Versailles is France's most important royal palace and is located about 25 km west of downtown Paris, the reason why it was chosen as a place to sign the memorandum was neither its luxury nor its famous gold decorations.

According to Macron, the American diplomat and politician (US national father) Benjamin Franklin persuaded King Louis XVI to support the struggle of American colonies for independence.
For this reason, Versailles are considered a key symbol of the Franco-American alliance and diplomatic cooperation of the two countries. Negotiations were held at the palace premises and decisions were taken that helped shape the alliance for the American Revolution.
This process culminated in the Treaties of Versailles of 1783, which put an end to the War of Independence and recognized the United States as an independent state.
As early as 1778, during the reign of Louis XVI, decisions had been made on military and economic support for the American colonies in their struggle against Britain.
As part of the American president's visit to France, Macron held a reception in his honour at Versailles, while along with his wife, Brigitte Macron, they also celebrated the American president's 80th birthday in the historic site.
Leaving the palace, Trump told reporters: "I just signed it," referring to the memorandum of understanding.
