Significantly fewer closed-door competitions, more fines totaling 560,500 euros to natural persons and increased citizens' turnout on the stadiums, show the evidence presented to the House by Deputy Minister of Sports Giannis Brutsis, for the second year of application of Law 5085 on sports violence.
The evidence shows "absolute compliance with the delinquency of the stadium stands," the minister stressed by talking in the bill for the ratification of the memorandum of cooperation between Greece and China in the field of sports.
The closed-door matches were reduced by 41.25%, i.e. by 47, versus 80 last year. In professional football and basketball championships, the increase reached 50%, as they decreased to 17 versus 34.
At the same time, fines in groups were reduced by 16.4%, i.e. 360,000 euros, from 430,500 euros last year, instead, fines in persons increased to 560,500 euros from 378,000. Mr Brutsis referred to a positive increase of 48.3%, which is "to natural persons".
"With the law that we voted together we have now managed, measurablely, to have evidence showing that there is positive behaviour of fans on the courts and we are reducing misconduct," he noted.
“15-year record” on Super League tickets
Despite the fines, "the people return to the stadiums", as a 15-year record was recorded on Super League tickets. According to the data, 1,753,400 tickets were cut in this year's event, an increased number of 15.9% compared to last year.
"It's a success we can all share. I want you to have confidence, we are going well," said Mr Brutsis.
At the same time, the minister also referred to the evidence derived from the e-Kouros digital platform, which is the official record of the sports ecosystem. In particular, 452,961 athletes have been recorded on the platform in amateur sports, 6,451 clubs, 151 sports, 66 federations and 20,654 coaches.
