Speaking at the event the Labour Minister referred to the important reforms in the last 7 years in terms of work such as the 10% reduction in unemployment and the rise in wages, noting that "we had a gap in covering as many workers as possible from collective labour agreements".
He even pointed out the dialogue he had with Kyriakos Mitsotakis before the opening of negotiations on collective labour agreements in which the Prime Minister asked her "what are the chances of success?" and she replied that "on the basis of reason it is close to 0% but I had the feeling that the conditions existed"
"We have spent seven months of extensive discussions. I've made a condition for everything to be done under strict confidentiality. I think three were the elements that led to the deal:
- there was trust
- everyone wanted a solution and consent.
- we did not start with prerequisites," added Niki Kerameos
As the think tank "Friends of Europe" notes, which organizes the event "at a time when Europe seeks to reconcile competitiveness with social justice, Greece has taken an important and widely recognized historical step forward. In November 2025, the Greek government and all national social partners signed the National Social Agreement, a historic tripartite agreement aimed at strengthening the Collective Labour Contracts (CSRs) and renewing social dialogue in practice. The Agreement marks a decisive opportunity to strengthen the protection of labour in Greece, where, after the public debt crisis, labour had been shaped by the constraints of the time of the crisis.".
