High-ranking Kremlin adviser said today that European leaders had probably channeled to Donald Trump damaging ideas at this week's G7 summit, but the American president is a strong leader who insists on his own views.

Trump said Russia should enter into peace with Ukraine after a "very good" meeting with Ukrainian President Volontimir Zelenski on Tuesday with his comments causing moderate optimism among G7 leaders that a peace agreement can be reached.

Foreign policy adviser Yuri Usakoff said today that he believes Trump had been misinformed about the situation in Ukraine at the summit and that Moscow continues to expect a visit from American President Steve Whitkov's envoys and Jared Kushner – although a date has not yet been set.

"One can assume that Trump was channeled... harmful ideas. We understand that Europeans here have an unnecessary influence," Usakoff told Russian state television.

"Trump is a strong politician and insists on his views. He commented on some things and kept others to himself. Let's see how things work out," he said.
