Russia delivered 522 bodies to Ukraine, mostly soldiers, as Kiev said today, with these exchanges being one of the few tangible results of negotiations between the two countries.

"As a result of attempts to repatriate, the remains of 522 persons were returned to Ukraine. According to the Russian side, the bodies belong to Ukrainian nationals, especially soldiers," the Ukrainian Center responsible for prisoners of war said today through post on Telegram. According to the announcement, identification of the dead should follow.

Ukraine for its part delivered 33 bodies to Russia, according to Russian MP Samsail Saraliev, a member of the parliamentary co-ordination group on the conflict, which the RBK network invokes.

Kiev did not announce that it delivered bodies to Russia.

In photographs made public by the Ukrainian Center of Prisoners of War, people in white protective uniforms, with the Red Cross logo, are seen near trucks.

The most recent relic exchange took place in mid-May when Kiev had announced that it received 528 bodies from Moscow. Prisoner exchanges were made in May and June: 205 and then 185 captives from each camp.
