NATO member states' satisfaction with the agreement on Iran was expressed by Alliance Secretary General Mark Rute, arguing that preventing Tehran's acquisition of strategic military capabilities is a permanent NATO position.
As he said, NATO member countries recognise US President Donald Trump's efforts to reach the agreement, pointing out that the main objective remains to prevent Iran from developing ballistic missile capabilities.
"We must prevent Iran from gaining ballistic missile capabilities, which pose a threat to the region, to Europe and to the international community more widely," Rute said.
According to him, actions by the United States in recent months have significantly reduced this threat, helping to reduce the potential that could cause destabilization.
NATO's secretary-general also referred to the importance of the smooth functioning of the Straits of Hormuz, stressing that the restoration of freedom of navigation is a crucial issue for the international economy and safety of maritime transport.
As he noted, several allies have already expressed their intention to contribute to the relevant efforts, and pointed out that the recent joint G7 communication is also moving in the same direction.
