An important project to strengthen alternative tourism and promote the natural reserve of Western Greece is on the way, as the Municipality of Aktios – Vonitsas proceeds to create 121 km of new hiking routes.
This is the work of creating the National Network of Hiking Trails and Routes, which includes a total of 16 organized and fully marked routes, designed to highlight the natural and cultural wealth of the area.
TheThe Commission will be able to take the necessary measures to ensure that the measures are implemented., historical sites, traditional settlements and areas of intense environmental interest, enabling visitors to get to know a different aspect of the area, beyond the classic tourist model.

According to the planning of the Municipality, the new network aims not only to improve accessibility and safety for hikers, but also the creation of a new development tool for the local economy. The municipal authority estimates that strengthening outdoor activities can act as a lever for attracting visitors throughout the year, expanding the tourist season.
The initiative is part of the wider framework of sustainable development promoted by the Municipality, with the main aim of exploiting the comparative advantages of the region, with respect for the natural environment and cultural heritage.
Through this investment, the Municipality of Aktios – Vonitsa attempts to place dynamically on the map of modern hiking and rural activities, strengthening the connection of visitors to nature and local history.
The project "Creating National Network of Hiking Trails and Routes of the Municipality of Aktios – Vonitsas" is funded through the National Recovery and Durability Plan "Greece 2.0", with resources from the European Union under the NextGenerationEU programme.
