The U.S. Department of Defence is open to Poland's offer to host on its territory a permanent American military presence, Polish Defence Minister Vladislav Kosinak-Kamis said after his meeting today in Brussels with American counterpart Pete Hegseth.
Warsaw is pushing to increase the presence of NATO's allied forces in its eastern wing, after Russia invaded Ukraine, in 2022.
"I had the opportunity to speak today with the Minister of War (ed. Hegseth). We discussed collective defence and cooperation. The US responded positively to Poland's proposal for a permanent military base in Poland," Kosinyak-Kamis told reporters.

However, no specific decision has yet been taken.
Earlier, Hegseth announced that the US would review their military presence in Europe and warned NATO allies that Washington's contribution to its budget would be reduced if some countries did not meet the commitments they made last year in terms of increasing their defence budget.
