In controlled explosion of three giant cadavers PPC proceeded late this afternoon to the Mavroigis Kozani mine, as part of the withdrawal of old equipment no longer used in mining activities.

The company was carried out by a specialized workshop, which, on orders from PPC, placed explosives on the machinery. Within a few seconds, the three cadavers, about 100 meters long, 50 meters tall and weighing more than 150 tons each, collapsed, in a controlled manner.

PPC's Lignite Center director Antonis Nikos, speaking to the APE-ME, said that "these are equipment that has been put out of service and no longer serves the needs of lignite activity." The use of explosives was deemed necessary so that workshops that would undertake the cutting and removal of metal parts could work more safely on the ground.

According to him, "the next period is expected to follow corresponding actions in other cadavers who have withdrawn from the production process." Metal materials resulting from the dismantling of machinery will be sold as scrap.
