No static problems (climate or precipitation) were detected on the bridge Mulgars– Key, at the height of Ludia, in which traffic has been banned since yesterday.
A mechanical chamber of the Thessaloniki Metropolitan Unit's Sub-Directorate of Technical Works performed an autopsy on the bridge today and found, according to announcement, damage to the wooden deck due to the misuse of the bridge. In particular, although it had been maintained in the recent past, it found that it has been strained, due to the continuous transit of heavy-duty trucks, despite the fact that there are vehicle ban warning signs of more than 5 tonnes, as well as marking for particularly low transit speeds.
The competent services will proceed to the immediate restoration of the wooden deck, so that the bridge will be given to traffic soon, as its main users are the farmers of the wider area and their needs for movements through the growing season are many. Meanwhile, for driver safety reasons, in consultation with Traffic, the curfew on the bridge will continue to apply.
As early as yesterday, a rapid intervention van on the road network, the Thessaloniki Anti-Region, has placed plastic stathia (new Jersey type), flashing lamps and traffic ban signs on the two entrances of the bridge from Malgara and Key.
The Region of Central Macedonia, having prepared study and guaranteed funding, already initiates the competition process for the "stretching" of the wooden deck and the fitting of iron, combined with new maintenance of the bridge's metal frame.
