The new digital service of posokanei.gov.gr refers to the suspension of the Minister of State, Akis Skertsu, but also to the stance held by the opposition on the issue.
As he asks at the outset, "Who and why doesn't want more transparency in supermarket prices?" and he replies: "Let us agree in principle on the basics: that price competition and transparency in the operation of each market are in the interest of the consumer.
Given this as a given, I would expect, as a nature and in good faith, that the opposition would welcome, if not positively, at least neutrally, the new digital service posokanei.gov.gr which seeks both purposes: namely both the intensity of competition in prices and the reduction of consumer information asymmetry over the large supermarket chains.
Because, quite simply, thanks to this easy-to-use application consumers can now make smarter and more conscious markets. And with them the state exerts more documented and effective pressure across the supply chain for better prices.
Yet, he continues, "as of yesterday a fierce war has begun by the opposition - even with fake news concerning its cost of creation - to discredit this innovative tool that the state now puts at the disposal of consumers.
The opposition once again in front of its anti-government struggle operates suicidally and plays the game of those who do not want transparency and price competition. And I think we're all able to imagine who they might be.".
In conclusion, "How much he does not solve, of course, the problem of accuracy. But there is another weapon in our hands for more effective control of the domestic market and of multinational companies. If it is discredited, those who place their bets on both politics and economic speculation will win.
Let the opposition finally decide with whose interests it is drafted," the Minister of State concludes.
