The granting of a six-month extension to ongoing public projects, along with a review of prices and provision of compensation for contractors, calls for the construction industry to be united, warning that the new valuations caused by the crisis in the Middle East have brought the manufacturing industry to its limits.

The operators of the technical world are ringing the alarm of the risk of construction site freezes, failure to perform contracts and a new wave of court disputes, while the schedules of funded projects are particularly pressing.

The representatives of the employers' organizations are talking abouta rotophan increase in construction costs, with basic material prices rising by up to 150% in relation to pre- pandemic levels. Concrete has more than doubled its price, while bricks have recorded increases approaching 170%. At the same time, labour costs have increased by 80%-100%, while constant fluctuations in fuel and raw materials prices make it impossible to plan even existing projects.

"The problems brought about by the war in the Middle East have reached a dead end because of the increase in costs," SATE president said, Zacharias Athusakis, arguing that businesses are now unable to absorb new vibrations. For his part, the President of the PESE, Headlight, stressed that "we have now escaped the limits of the business risk and the strengths of any enterprise."
