Digital traceability in ovine and caprine animals: The platform for the supply of electronic marbles has been opened

Another important step in the digital transformation of Greek livestock is being done, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food says in a communication.

The new era of full traceability and reliable recording of livestock begins with the activation of the digital platform for applying supply of electronic endostomachic boulders sheep and goats.

The platform is now available to farmers, approved companies for the disposal of digital labelling instruments as well as the retailing of ovine and caprine labelling instruments, marking the start of a reform that enhances the transparency, effectiveness of controls and the reliability of agricultural aid.

The operation of the platform is part of the pilot implementation of the new traceability system established by No. B’ 3300/11.06.2026 joint decision of the Minister for Rural Development and Food Margaritis Schina and the Governor of AADE George Pitsilis.

It is recalled that in 2026 the measure was applied pilotly to livestock holdings with more than 900 sheep and goats, while in 2027 it was intended to apply it globally.

According to the new framework, placing electronic endostomachic boulevards is a condition of eligibility for granting Union and national payments to ovine and caprine animals over six months of age.

Electronic boules bear unique identification codes, which are associated with animal ear codes and are listed in the new Digital Traceability Base. The establishment and registration of the data shall be carried out exclusively by certified veterinarians.

Through the new platform, farmers can submit their applications electronically for the supply of marbles and monitor the process through a fully digital environment, which enhances the accuracy, transparency and reliability of the livestock record.
