Extremely resistant, even in the middle of the major Gulf crisis, proved to be Greek tourism.

According to the latest data from the Bank of Greece, travel receipts in April exceeded 1.1 billion euros, with an increase of 9.5% compared to the corresponding month last year, despite the uncertainty that prevailed and the successive violations of the fragile truce, agreed between the US and Iran on 8 April.

The revenue path is even more impressive if it is calculated the entire first four months of the year, as inputs touched 2.8 billion euros. This is a 37% leap against the corresponding period last year, which corresponds to an increase in receipts by almost EUR 753 million.

TTE's data demonstrate both the resilience of Greek tourism, which seems to be largely unscathed from the Middle East crisis, the consequent reduction in travel and the shrinking of air fuel stocks.

They also reflect the gradual introduction of Greece as a destination and in the winter months, confirming the success of the effort to extend the tourist season over the last seven years.

Detailed data on the travel balance will be published by the TE next Monday.
