Finally, in the action of a criminal organization that was blackmailing and proceeding to arson, police officers from the Sub-Directorate of DEA and Criminal Detection of Katerini were placed. Authorities arrested three men, while two people who had an executive role in the spiral are still being sought.
The organization had been set up since the summer of 2025 with one purpose: systematic blackmail of a businessman. Extortion, arson, and beating were the means they used.
In research carried out in total and seized: more than 8,000 euros, 40 packages of tax-free cigarettes, 3 mobile phones and
1 device to measure protein and moisture that was operated in order to show altered measurement indications. Also, the audit showed that the house of the arrested man who had an executive role was being illegally electrified.
Even a vehicle was seized as a means of committing a crime. The investigation continues to identify the elements of the two members of the organization, which had an executive role.
The announcement of ELAS
They were arrested the day before (June 17, 2026) by police officers of the Sub-Directorate of Criminal Criminals Katerini, 3 domestic men, for the offences of criminal organization, extortion and arson.
In particular, two of the arrested had formed a criminal organization since the summer of 2025, in which the third arrested and two other persons, who had an executive role, joined in order to blackmail a domestic man.
As evidenced by the investigation, they are involved in 4 cases of vehicle arson, of which 2 attempts, in vehicles owned by the sufferer, his company and his son, made from the summer of 2025 to February 2026 in areas of Pieria and Larissa.
Furthermore, last October the arrester, who had an executive role in the organization, by using physical violence caused physical harm to the son of the domestic man.
In surveys carried out overall and seized:
- the amount of eur 8,050,
- 40 cigarette packages for which the legal taxes and duties had not been paid,
- 3 mobile phones and
- 1 device to measure protein and moisture that had been treated to show altered measurement indications.
In a check carried out at the house of the arrested person who had an executive role, with the assistance of a HEDNO crew, they were found to be illegally electrified. A vehicle was also seized as a means of committing a criminal offence.
The investigation continues to identify the elements of the two members of the organization, which had an executive role.
The arrested, with the case-file formed against them, were taken to the Prosecutor of Primary Katerini and referred them to the Inquisitor.
