Intensity prevailed on the city council of Messolonghi on the occasion of the costs of an opposition's request for the expenses relating to the events for 200 years from the "exodus". The mayor described the former mayor as a "caragiose" and the opposition left the meeting.
According to aixmi-news. gr, it all started a month ago when opposition advisers filed a request for the costs of the events, without however receiving evidence. During the last meeting, the opposition protested that they had not received material.
During the protests, during the same sources, the mayor, Spyros Diamantopoulos, showed not to know that the recommendation was not sent to them, addressing the secretary of the Council Vassilis Antonopoulos who said he was not given anything to send by email.
The applicant councillors reacted with the result that tension prevailed, with the opposition considering that it was a deliberate action by the municipal authority, according to the same information.
Mr Diamantopoulos said that it is the responsibility of the agency that did not send the evidence, but after an argument he had with Nikos Karapanos they also exchanged some... French, with the mayor in the end calling the former mayor "caragiose".

Earlier, Deputy Mayor of Finance, Dimitris Petropoulos, who accused the opposition of missing from the meeting where the framework of the anniversary events had been discussed. According to the same information, Mr. Petropoulos said that the effort made highlighted Mesolonghi everywhere and "significance has the effect rather than if the costs are legal".

In particular, he said that the Interior Ministry financed with 1.4m euros, the renovation of the Gallery and the Katrakis Museum, 800,000 euros was an emergency aid, 200,000 euros was another emergency cap for staff recruitment, while the Ministry of Culture gave 127.000 euros, which have not even reached the Municipality's fund as a whole. He then referred to specific donations from individuals and bodies, also saying the House also gave 50,000 euros.
