Against SYRIZA's leadership, Paul Polakis, who spoke of "absolute absurdity" and "a demonstration of political allegiance", was able to turn his arrows personally against the party's President, Socrates Famellus. The reason for the statements of independent MP Chania and former minister, Paul Polakis, was the decision of the Central Committee to support Alexis Tsipras' initiative.
Mr. Polakis, at the same time announced initiatives for the immediate convocation of the party bodies speaking in Athens 9.84. He also made known that they would invite Alexis Tsipras to clarify the situation himself.
‘Original decision in the annals’
"We live the absolute absurdity. We have a central committee decision – unprecedented in the chronicles of political history, not only from the post-politization, but from the beginning of the century, as on the proposal of SYRIZA President Socrates Famellus the central committee makes the following decision: We stand next to this initiative, Alexis Tsipras, and we support it... You have a party that tells you, I support another party. It is the ultimate absurdity".
At the same time, MP Chania focused on the contradictions arising from the stance of the other side, saying: "At the same time and after that decision, you have repeated leaks on the part of EL.A.S, which says that We don't talk to parties, we only talk to faces which must have resigned from their office. This paradox we live in must be solved. We can't go on like this. A historical party cannot be dissolved because someone so decided."
Points for strains not quitting: ‘Some executives have resigned and must be replacedBut some have not resigned as members of the Central Committee or Members. That's a disgrace. It's their right to choose another party formation, but you quit and go there. You cannot support someone and be an executive of another party."
The ultimatum and explanations: "We have said that Famellus must bring a deal, exists or does not exist with Alexis Tsipras and his party. If there isn't, we need to see what we can do. This situation is explained only in two ways: Either there is an agreement between Mr. Tsipras's party and the leading group around Mr. Famelos or it is a tremendous demonstration of political allegiance in an attempt to have mercy on you and accept you tomorrow day after tomorrow on the ballots. That is why we also say that we must very soon – and the ultimatum ends – give the agreement that exists or does not exist. And of course, beware, the agreements of collusion are made with specific content. They are not generally and vaguely done."
Request to convene a central committee and the message to Alexis Tsipras: "We take the initiative together with some comrades and make a request for a new central committee meeting. We will soon send a message to Alexis Tsipras to make a clear position on some things. This situation is blurry and bastard and needs to be solved."
Asked whether he appreciates that Mr. Famellus will be re-election candidate with Syriza in the next election, Paul Polakis expressed his strong doubt: "The way I see it, no. Since the logic is that Syriza should not descend." As for Mr Famellus's stay in the presidency, he noted: "Why he remains President of SYRIZA will be resolved in our internal procedures.".
Referring to the next day, he made it clear: "I will try Syriza to have a future with wider alliances and wish with the creation of a common ballot of all democratic progressive leftist party".
