Intense political confrontation was caused by the statements of the Hellenic Left Coalition, Harry Athanasiadis, during a television debate at OPEN, who described New Democracy voters as greetings with the ND MP, Maria Syregela, to react strongly to the designation.
The debate began on the occasion of the issue of accuracy, prices in basic goods and purchasing power of households. During the confrontation, Haris Athanasiadis argued that the proportion of citizens who continue to declare in the polls that he will vote for the New Democracy is that part of society that "wins" from government policies.
His position caused Mrs Syregela's immediate reaction, when he said that "the 25% she continues to state in the polls that she will vote for New Democracy is what she wins. And not only does he win, he hails against others who lose and try to make the month.".
The ND MP declared the statement unacceptable. "Is it possible to say that those voting ND greet the others? Did you rebranding supposed to be the same again? Split again?". He noted that he is "inconceivable member of a party seeking to enter the House to characterise the voters of the ruling party as welcome." In fact, he asked for clarifications on the content of the report, with Mr. Athanasiadis insisting on his initial position without recalling it.
