British government ministers will ask Prime Minister Kir Starmer today to set a timetable for his departure, according to the Times, after Andy Burnham's return to parliament fueled the scenarios for a possible confrontation for the ruling Labour Party leadership.

Burnham, mayor of Greater Manchester, was elected Labour Party MP in the alternate elections held yesterday Thursday, a key step towards fulfilling his ambition to replace Starmer in party leadership and Prime Minister.

The Times stressed that ministers would tell Starmer that "his time is over" during meetings with the British Prime Minister, urging him to set a timetable for a "soft transition".

The Burnham operation is currently reluctant to take an embraceable approach to removing Starmer from office, and homes that the PM will agree to an orderly and non-confrontional translation
