A baker was turned into a hero in Ankara, who at noon on Wednesday (17/6) stopped at the last minute a truck rolling uncontrollably back without a handbrake preventing a serious accident.
The vehicle was moving with the driver's door open and after knocking on a parked car passed in front of the baker, Mesut Bakigi, who was outside and distributing breads to a grocery store. He without hesitation quickly jumped into the driver’s seat, pulled the handbrake and immobilized the truck before causing further damage or hitting someone.

"I felt like a hero, I'm very happy"Shortly after his heroic act the baker spoke to iha stated: "I went to the grocery store to leave the bread. When I got out, I saw a van coming at us. The vehicle door was open. At first I hesitated to intervene. But then, Risking my life, I managed to stop the vehicle.The van's handbrake wasn't pulled. It also had speed (the levers were not in the dead). It probably got out of hand. We prevented a major disaster. I didn't see the owners of the vehicle at the point. I expect to be thanked. I felt like a hero.. There were kids riding a bike there. Maybe I saved their lives. The people around me came to me. I was congratulated and thanked. I declared myself hero of the day.
