Panic prevailed Thursday afternoon (18/6) in New York Times Square, as a person was injured after a knife attack, while gunshots were heard. The incident took place shortly after the NBA champions New York Nicks parade, in which more than one million people gathered.
As reported by abc7ny, a 17-year-old teenager began shooting and shooting at the corner of 44th Street and Broadway, around 3:40 p.m. Nobody was hurt by the bullets, but the sound of the shots forced people to scattered in the famous square and running in panic to save. On video many people are seen hiding in shops on Broadway Street, as well as 45th Street and 8th Avenue. The employees of a souvenir shop helped people who had fallen to the ground terrified after the incident.

Also, a 26-year-old was injured in the neck after a knife attack and is hospitalized at Morningside Hospital. He is reportedly not in danger and expected to recover.
The 17-year-old perpetrator was seen running southward, force-bending a police officer, before continuing to run east on 42nd. Street with the police stalking him. Shortly after his arrest, there was again shooting on 45th Street and 8th Avenue.

"I didn't see much, but I was down there, right in the corner, and I heard “puff-puff-puff”. I looked at my cell phone and saw that shots were fired near Times Square.“ a witness stated. "Crazy. I didn't really expect that to happen in this area. Especially here. There are many tourists around," said a local worker.
Police rushed to the area, collecting evidence and determining where the bullets landed. So far it is unclear whether the 17-year-old arrester is the perpetrator seen in Earth Cam's video, but they told Eyewitness News they were looking for other people. In progress are investigations into the motive for shootings that endangered many people.
