A massive wave exploded on Sunday morning (14/6) in a Hawaiian seaside house complex resulting in many tiles being torn off the roof and flooded many apartments.

Authorities had warned of a dangerous combination of waves from a south-southwest direction and seasonal "King Ties" would cause strong currents and dangerous large waves 3 to 4.5 meters tall. The National Weather Service (NWS) had originally issued Advice on High Wave, which was later upgraded to High Wave Warning, as large waves began flooding the coasts. Authorities warned that a dangerous combination of waves from a south-southwest direction and seasonal "King Ties" would cause strong currents and dangerously large waves of three to four and a half meters tall.

Video released on social media captures the moment local residents are heard shouting out of surprise and agony, as the huge wave covers the band. Along with the intense waves, NWS also warned of possible minor flooding on the coast during the afternoon cycle of the tide.

This is not the first time the complex has been damaged. The same band had been hit by huge waves in 2022, connected to Hurricane Darby.
