As a defeat to the Republic, Elena Akrita the return of Alexander Yotopoulos to prison after the decision to revoke the Supreme Court in his release.

The MP of SYRIZA, in her post, claims that "political revansism towards the rule of law" has fully prevailed, arguing that the sentenced 17 times to life of Giotopoulos, returns to prison "because it is a danger to society" but because "in this country political pressure, criminal populism and thirst for penalties to the very end prove tools stronger than the principles of legal culture".

Elena Akrita still saw "unpredictable involvement of Americans" and "interventions of members of the mighty family" who "found eventually willing ears" aiming directly at the decision of justice. As he claims "the message sent is not that the Republic is strong. It is that the Republic may be avenged.".

«Ήττα της Δημοκρατίας και πολιτικός ρεβανσισμός»: Η Έλενα Ακρίτα κατά πάντων για την επιστροφή Γιωτόπουλου στη φυλακή

"In the photo we see a 82-year-old man returning to prison. This image shows the full prevalence of political revansism towards the rule of law.

Alexander Giotopoulos has already served 24 years in prison. Almost the maximum actual reservation provided for by the Greek legal system.

He doesn't go back to prison because he's a danger to society.

He's not coming back because he violated his terms.

He's not coming back because he's been a delinquent prisoner.

He returns because in this country political pressure, criminal populism and thirst for sentences to the very end are proving tools stronger than the principles of legal culture.

The cries of the far right, the unwarranted involvement of the Americans, the interference of the members of the mighty family and the authoritarian perception that pervades the government system eventually found eager ears.

The message sent is not that the Republic is strong.

It's that the Republic can be avenged.

This is not her victory.

It's her defeat.
