The Ukrainian President Volondimir Zelensky said today that he suggested meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in the United States, during telephone contact with the American president Donald Trump.

"Last night (Sunday), we discussed with President Trump the possibility of holding such a meeting in the U.S., in a form that Putin would find it very difficult to refuse, at least to President Trump," Zelenski said in a video message via H.

"We'll see what happens. If Russia refuses this opportunity too, it will need further pressure," he added.

Zelenski had previously proposed a te-a-tet with Putin, but the Kremlin is only considering this possibility if the meeting is set in Moscow, which the president of Ukraine rejects.

We offered Putin to meet anywhere where real decisions to end the war could be made. He does not want it.

We Discussed With the U.S. and France the posibility of a meeting with Russia around the G7, with all democratic nations represented. Putin does not want it.
