At least 31 people died while 33 others were injured after a bus crash on a cliff Monday morning (15/6) in the northern Amhara region of Ethiopia.

In particular, according to the Kobolcha City Police Department, the bus was suffocatingly full and was traveling from the Desi area to the capital, Addis Ababa, when it was diverted from its course.

First aid groups were delayed to reach the point and this resulted in several injured not making it. This area does not have basic infrastructure and ambulances, forcing passengers to be transported in public vehicles.

The road, where the tragic accident occurred, is difficult and is generally dangerous. The cause and circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
