Fire spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Fabio Contreira, told CNN Brasil that authorities have no clear picture yet of exactly how the accident occurred.

‘Departments of aircraft have been dispersed within hundreds of measures, so the information available remains extremely preliminary. We need to look at recordings and videos to understand exactly what happened," he said.

According to him, rescuers detected one helicopter burning between the electric cars, with five on board dead inside. The second helicopter was found about 100 meters away and carried only the pilot, who also lost his life.

The accident occurred in the suburb of Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Rio de Janeiro.

Witness in the area described chaos scenes, arguing that he saw one helicopter wrapped in flames after the collision and a passenger falling into the void from the second aircraft before both crashed into the ground.

"It was scary, absolutely horrible," said the worker in Vulcanizator Fernandes de Freitas.

Pictures published in the local media show dense black smoke rising over the car dealership, where several vehicles had been delivered to flames.

Contreiras pointed out that the fact that the helicopters fell into the parking lot prevented even greater tragedy.

"In view of the dwellings around the site, the accident could have had far more tragic consequences," he stressed.

Oliver Tree, descended from Santa Cruz, California, had become particularly known for his musical presence on social media, but also for his eccentric style, special clothes, and characteristic hairstyles.

At the time of the accident he was on a worldwide tour to promote his most recent album. The tour had begun from Mexico City on May 30 and included scheduled appearances in China, Japan, Antarctica, New Zealand and South Africa.

A few hours before the crash, the singer published videos of his trip to Brazil. In these he appeared playing football, cooking, driving a motorcycle on the streets of Rio, getting a haircut and posing with a copy of the World Cup trophy.

In one of his last posts on Instagram, created along with Brazilian content creator Iae Break, he had written: "American for the first time in Brazil".

After the news was released, Iae Break posted photos with Tri and wrote in Portuguese: "I can't believe you left".

I love you, brother.".

His former companion and singer Melanie Martinez said he collapsed psychologically when he learned the news.
