"The world reached a historic turning point as the United States and Iran agreed to end the war permanently, including the front in Lebanon," Pakistani Prime Minister said, while thanking United States President Donald Trump for his contribution to the process.
Sharif reserved a special reference to General Asim Munir, the strongest leader of the Pakistani army for decades, as he has been described as political analysts.
The prime minister argued that he was a personal witness to Munir's "extreme efforts" during the consultations, noting that he worked uninterruptedly and never lost faith in the prospect of reaching an agreement.
At the same time, he praised Foreign Minister Isak Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Nakvi for their contacts with Iranian leadership during the crisis.
In a symbolic move, Sharif invited MPs to greet Iran's ambassador, who was in the chamber during his speech.
The Prime Minister's statements highlight Islamabad's ambition to appear as one of the main mediators between Washington and Tehran.
