Iran is preparing for its 2026 World Cup premiere but relations with FIFA remain tense! With a hearing held in Los Angeles on Monday (15/06) the pre-revolutionary ban of the International Football Federation on the Iranian flag, in which the lion and sun are depicted. This flag symbolizes the Shah regime, which was overturned in 1979.
According to Athletic, the original ban also officially took "sarca and bones" after retrialing the case, a few hours before Taremi's official World Cup premiere against New Zealand (04:00, ERT 1), in Inglewood, California.
The judge of the case and FIFA moved on the same wavelength and argued that such initiatives are political and endanger the smooth conduct of the event. It is still a matter of security for these social groups in terms of their safety on the grounds of the World Cup.
For their part, the representatives of the Asian country argued that football and sport are an area of free expression and belief and that every view should be respected.
However, there was no change in FIFA's attitude. We recall that the Iranians' participation in this year's World Cup went through a thousand waves, but the Middle East country will give all its struggles to the US.
