From weddings and christenings to car parks and garages, AADE extends the network of digital controls, seeking new sources of tax revenue.

The financial staff estimate that the extension of the digital clientele to sectors with increased delinquency can yield significant amounts, which will strengthen the package of measures planned for 2027 And he already has 1 billion euros in the "knob".

At the heart of the design is the extension of the digital clientele social events such as estates, reception halls and hotels hosting weddings, baptisms, corporate events and all kinds of social gatherings. Undertakings will be required to record events before the tables are set up, stating key elements such as the type of event and the number of guests.

What branches enter the microscope
The aim of the checks is not limited to the owners of the events grounds.

The entire chain of professionals participating in a reception enters the microscope of AADE. Catering companies, florists, photographers, musicians, DJs, decorating businesses, hair salons, makeup, pastry shops and equipment rental companies will be faced with extensive electronic crossings in order to identify deviations between real and stated turnover.

The main aim of tax administration is not to repeat the phenomenon of previous years, where entire seasons of social events passed with limited controls and extensive "black" transactions. With the new system, AADE will be able to cross in real time the number of guests with the invoices and receipts issued for each event, obtaining a full picture of the transaction.

The data will be sent automatically to AIA and will be checked in real time, creating a full digital trading map around each event. Thus, if an event of hundreds is declared but the documents issued do not correspond to its actual size, the system will be able to detect deviations immediately and activate further controls.

At the same time, tax authorities strengthen the use of artificial intelligence and data tools drawn from social media. Photos and videos posted by the guests themselves can be used in addition to the crossings, giving the auditors a more comprehensive picture of the actual size of an event and the financial footprint of the professionals involved in it.

Controls are expected to be particularly strict. Where an event or client is found not to be registered in the digital client register during the audit, the infringement may be a starting point for full tax control of the company, in addition to the fines provided for.

The selection of these activities is not random. In the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance they consider that social events remain one of the markets where concealing transactions and not issuing evidence still show high rates. For this reason the expansion of the Digital Customerage is considered one of the key tools for expanding the tax base without imposing new taxes.

The first results from the application of the measure to other sectors of the economy have already strengthened the expectations of the financial staff. During 2025 949 checks were reportedly carried out in parking lots, garages and car washes, with auditors attesting 5,882 infringements in 505 undertakings. In simple terms, delinquency was detected in more than half the companies controlled, with the rate reaching 53.2%.

These figures are already being used by the Greek side in discussions with European institutions, as the government is trying to prove that new digital tools can permanently increase tax revenue. The greater the efficiency of anti-taxation measures, the greater the financial space that can be used for new tax reliefs and income support.

The same package of interventions includes the extension of the digital work card to new sectors of the economy, as well as the gradual implementation of the digital mission card. These are two other tools which, according to the financial staff, can limit undeclared work, smuggling and the illegal economy, strengthening public revenue in the coming years.
