A new attempt to staff the gaps to medical personnel in public hospitals makes the Ministry of Health. Tomorrow, Wednesday, the deadline for applications for the 1,131 posts relating to the recruitment of permanent doctors expires. The big question is whether the positions will be filled or some will be declared barren again, resulting in temporary solutions being sought, for example by moving from one area to another.
According to the Minister of Health, Mr. Adoni Georgiades, by last Thursday 280 final applications had been submitted and there were another 1,200 pending. "Many expect to press the button just before the deadline is closed to see where the vacancies are and choose on the basis of their priorities," the Minister of Health said in an interview, commenting that interest is not low.
