A special "civil" that was in progress at the White House until it was announced the US agreement with Iran on the end of the Middle East war describes a report by Axios in which it is also noted that CIA director John Ratcliffe, told American President Donald Trump and other senior officials evidence collected by American intelligence agencies and which raises serious doubts about Iran's willingness to make the nuclear concessions Washington seeks in any final agreement.
During the report, Ratcliffe is not the only skeptic in the White House leadership team as concerns and questions about the memorandum of understanding with Tehran appear to have been voiced by Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and War Minister Pete Hegseth.
On the contrary, according to the sources invoked by Axios, the U.S. vice president was found, J.D. Vance. and Trump's envoys, Steve Whitkov and Jared Kushner..
The briefing by Ratcliffe took place within a series of summit meetings in the hours before the announcement of the agreement on Monday morning (Greece time), in which Trump and his team discussed information that gathered several American intelligence agencies, which showed that the way Iranian officials discussed the deal between them was incompatible with what they told the mediators and the US.
Based on this information Ratcliffe and Rubio allegedly expressed doubts as to whether Iranians would agree to take the measures the US is seeking for the Tehran nuclear programme.
"The information reflects that Iranian intentions are inconsistent with their commitments under the agreement," he said in Axios one of its sources while a White House official added that "President Trump hears all views on any issue – but everyone understands it is he who makes the final decisions".
"This Memorandum of Cooperation meets all the red lines that the government has long formulated, ensuring that Iran will never be able to hold nuclear weapons, cannot maintain its high-enrichment uranium and cannot hold world energy supply hostage," said the official, adding Trump would only agree to a "good" final deal.
"Iranians to receive more"
As Axios says "the full text of the original 14-point agreement has not yet been published, but a source that knows it argued that Iranians will receive more than they give under the Memorandum of Cooperation - unless they agree to sign a nuclear agreement that meets the US objectives.".
The source said that US and Iran are committed to the Understanding Memorandum to "resolve the disposal of stored enriched material" and "discuss the issue of future enrichment and other mutually agreed issues related to Iran's nuclear needs, based on a satisfactory framework to be included in the final agreement".
The text states that Iran will maintain the status quo of its nuclear programme, as long as negotiations continue. For their part, the US will not impose new sanctions or develop additional forces in the region. If a final nuclear agreement is reached, within 30 days the US will remove the forces they mobilised for the war and end all sanctions against Iran on the basis of an agreed timetable, according to what the same source said about the text of the memorandum of understanding.
Senior American official said, finally, that the US would know in two to three weeks whether Iran is serious about nuclear concessions. If not, the process could stop without Iran winning a lot.
