In an emergency, due to a shortage of water it is declared for the next three months Alonissos, by decision signed by Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou.
By the same ministerial decision, in an emergency because of a shortage of water the island of Tin, while the corresponding scheme is being extended for another three months to Meganise of Lefkada.
According to the ERT, the decision was adopted with the agreement of the Waste, Energy and Water Regulatory Authority (RAAEF) and the Secretary-General of the Aegean and Island Policy, enabling emergency measures to address the increased water supply needs of the island during the summer period.
This development is welcomed by Mayor Alonissos, Panagiotis Reader, stressing that "the decision will help speed up the necessary procedures to address the problem of water shortage, at a time when water demand is increasing significantly due to tourist traffic.".
