Three taxi drivers were arrested in Lasithi, as they allegedly attempted to collect a fare larger than the intended one, as part of targeted checks by the Greek Police to deal with misconduct by professional drivers.
According to EL.A., checks were carried out on Monday, June 15, 2026 by police officers of the Police Department of Agios Nikolaos, as part of actions of the Police Directorate Lasithi.
During the checks three domestics, aged 47, 48 and 25, were arrested, who were found to perform taxi services and, after the completion of the route, attempt to collect from customers an amount higher than that indicated in both the taxi meter and the printed proof.
At the expense of the three drivers, the administrative penalties provided for were established, while the preliminary investigation for the case was carried out by the St. Nicholas Traffic Department.
