A rare fishing incident that has become the central topic of discussion in the fishing circles occurred on the beach of Mesangals.

An amateur fisherman from Vineyard, making his hobby with reed from the coast, managed after a "hard battle" to pull up a locust, (impressive and rare for the fish area), whose weight exceeded 8 kg.

The lucky fisherman felt a powerful pull on his reed and the battle with the big fish lasted long enough, testing the strengths of his equipment. His successful haul to the sand caused the enthusiasm of the attendees who rushed to see the strange creature in person.

According to paidis.com experienced fishermen immediately identified the species Lobotes surinamensis, more commonly known as Lovofish, Triplonouros or Christakis (International Tripletail). This is the first official record of this species in the Mesangal region.

Lovefish is a tropical "immigrant" who lives mainly in the Indian and Atlantic Ocean.

In recent years, due to the rise in water temperature, it has increasingly appeared in the Mediterranean. His name comes from the back of his body, as his large wings resemble three lobes, giving the illusion that he has three tails.

The remarkable thing is that such a large fish, over 8 kg, was caught with a reed from the shore. It is undoubtedly a real fishing feat, as this species tends to move into deeper waters.
