Gardaí (the Irish police), investigating the separate cases of disappearance and murder of two women, started a new investigation operation in Wicklow County, reportedly BBC.

Jo Jo Dalard, 21, disappeared from the Moon area of Kilder County on November 9, 1995, after leaving Dublin. The case was upgraded from a missing person investigation into a homicide investigation in 2020.

Deirdre Jacob disappeared on 28 July 1998, at the age of 18, while her case was turned into a homicide investigation in 2018.

Excavation and forensic investigations were conducted on an open area near the border of Wicklow and Kilder counties in the Republic of Ireland, while investigations are expected to continue on Tuesday morning.

Deirdre was last seen crossing the road to the entrance of her home in Rosebury, Newbridge, Kilder County.

Police authorities, assisted by the Irish Armed Forces, completed a technical survey of the ground.

The operation is conducted by the Serious Crime Review Group and the Gardaí National Criminal Investigation Bureau, in collaboration with local police authorities.

Gardaí representative said:

"An Garda Síochána informs and continues to inform Jo Jo Dalard and Deirdre Jacob families about these investigations and has fully informed them of the latest developments".
