Season's over for Guillermo Ochoa.

The 40-year-old Mexican goalkeeper is on his national team's mission and expects to play in the 2026 World Cup, the sixth of his huge career.

Ochoa, however, announced that after the World Cup he would hang his gloves permanently because as he said with tears in his eyes that "if I don't play on the national team I don't see the reason to continue in football.".

"The Mexican national team has always been my guiding principle, in my career as in my life. I can't imagine my career without her. Now that my national team adventure is over, football no longer makes any sense to me. I see no point in continuing to play without the national team. I loved every moment I spent here. I gave everything. I leave peacefully, with my head high and very proud to experience this experience," Ochoa said in the video that went up to FIFA social media.

“I’ll still see you as my dad, and also as my legend. ‘

In the latest episode of “Letters That Unite”, Ochoa receives an emotional letter from his daughter, reflecting on his incredible journal with the Mexico national team and his legendary career at the #FIFAWorldCup.
