Iran President Masud Pezeskian described the memorandum of understanding with the US, which will be officially signed Friday in Switzerland, as a diplomatic victory for his country.
"Therefore, we should not leave this opportunity, which could get the country out of the present situation, to go untapped," said Pezeskian, according to the ISNA news agency. Such opportunities are limited and may not be presented again, he filled in.
Pezeskian, who is considered moderate, has repeatedly advocated diplomacy and has supported Iran's negotiating team led by parliament chairman Mohammad Bajere Galibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Aragci.
The Iranian president expressed hope that the preliminary agreement between Washington and Tehran would resolve many of his country's problems, launching a new era.
Due to international sanctions, Iran has long been in the throes of a serious economic crisis, which worsened since the outbreak of the war at the end of February. Tehran hopes that sanctions will be lifted, resulting in the country's economic recovery.
