Even Kyriakos Mitsotakis himself commented yesterday by Voula on the reports of a prolonged election period, making it clear that his tours are not related to any intended electoral surprise. And he made it clear that he will continue to turn Greece, both he and the leading executives of the ruling party, with the aim of re-accumulating the ND electoral base.

This is the real goal of Mr Mitsotakis, to reconnect with citizens who have voted and supported the New Democracy over the years and now may feel remote. Apparently, Alexis Tsipras' re-emergence in the political scene favours hard dilemmas against an opponent that the Prime Minister successfully faced both in 2019 and 2023, but Mr Mitsotakis is also placed on the substance of the problems facing citizens and in many cases related to the cost of life.

Yesterday Mr Mitsotakis took a phrase he had not used in a long time, but shows the political target group of the South West: "Greece that wakes up early". This phrase historically includes middle class, but also so-called «householders“, who supported the ND in the previous election with the promise of boosting their income, but a product of the year and given the successive geopolitical crises, they are pressed by prices on the shelves of supermarkets and petrol stations.

"We have drawn up a responsible policy. We said that we want to bring investment into the country, we want to create jobs, we want to support the middle class, we want to reduce taxes, we want to support Greece which wakes up early, productive Greece, which works and works hard. This is exactly the policy we implemented," said Mr Mitsotakis.

Interventions to be exact
Mitsotakis knows from the Focus groups of Megaros Maximos, but also from his regular tours, that the cost of life is objectively pressing on the citizens. Hence today he presents with Minister of Development Takis Theodorikos and the administrator of the Independent Consumer Protection Authority Athena Tsagaris the new PosoKanei application aimed at facilitating price comparison on supermarket shelves. At the same time, Mr Mitsotakis warned market players to integrate reduced international fuel prices into the pumps and shelves, meaning that the government has tools to ensure that the final price for the consumer is reduced by the "source".

Hard dilemmas
Warning at the same time that "jambas died", with indirect spikes for the proposals presented in the public debate by Alexis Tsipras and Nikos Androulakis, Mr. Mitsotakis attempts to reconnect with the "platian social alliance" built by the ND in 2019 and 2023, to get the percentage of self-reliance he received.

That is why he continues to address these citizens, many of whom are still in the tank of undecided in all measurements, with harsh dilemmas and comparing himself to both Mr. Tsipras and the other opposition leaders. "We want to trust again those who we know ourselves that what feed us cannot implement or trust a party and a government that has shown a consistency in what we have said and what we do?" he said with meaning yesterday by Voula. Progressively, Mr Mitsotakis will ask this question with increasing intensity.
