Rapid reactions provoked in Mexico the move that made a fan of the national football team during the South Korea match with the Czech Republic for Mundial 2026 on Friday that ended with a 2-1 Czech victory.
Ulises Fernando Bernal Miramontes was recorded on video that lifted an influencer from South Korea pulling the edges of his eyes, a move considered racist.
"You traveled across the world for the World Cup and experience racism" Yoon Su-jin wrote in her post.

The video caused more than 65,000 comments, most of which were extremely aggravating to the Mexican fan.
"Oh, so awful. And then he laughs like he did the best joke" wrote a commentator, with several Mexicans apologizing adding that "not all Mexicans are represented.".
Under the burden of reactions Bernal apologized in his statement while, as Mexican media broadcast, he resigned from his position as president of Jalisco's College of Geoinformatics and Topographic Engineering (CITGEJ).
In his statement Bernal acknowledged that the video "provoked a wide range of reactions. That is why I believe it is important to apologize publicly.".
"I am truly sorry for everything this situation has caused. I took time to think about what happened and I understand the responsibility that I have right now," he wrote, adding that he does not wish to "justify, nor discuss different interpretations".
"During my personal and professional life, I have always tried to treat others with respect and will continue to work to ensure that my actions consistently reflect these values," concluded Mexico's fan.
