A new home test aimed at early detection of HPV lesions developed researchers from the University of Athens, a development that allows our country to keep up with Sweden which has been implementing self-sampling for HPV for years, a strategy that has contributed significantly to the treatment of cervical cancer.

The new test was designed to work complementary to both the known Pap Test and molecular control for HPV virus, additionally offering a tool for assessing the risk of cancer development. The aim of researchers is to identify women with pre-cancer lesions with greater accuracy and at increased risk of disease progression.
