In a climate of emotion took place today in Rhodes the event naming the building ECAB Rhodes in ‘Free Ferentinos“ honoring the memory of the rescuer who lost his life in time of duty in his tragic accident helicopter of the EAA in 2002 together with other colleagues.

The event was organized by the Association of Workers of Rhodes at the premises of the organization, on the day of the anniversary of the fate flight of 17 June 2002In the presence of the family of the late, his colleagues, representatives of the authorities and institutions of the Dodecanese, there was a trisaion in memory of Eleftherios Ferentinos, while the revelation of the new name of the building followed.

As mentioned during the event, the decision on naming is a minimal act of honor and recognition towards a man who dedicated his life to the service of the social whole and lost his life trying to save a fellow man. At the same time, it was stressed that this initiative acts as a constant reminder of the offer, self-refugee and the risks faced daily by rescuers and its crews ECAB.

The crash of the EKAB helicopter
The tragic accident occurred when a Augusta A109 type helicopter crashed Mount Vigla, Anafi. The aircraft had departed Rhodes for air transportation of 62-year-old Anna Damigos, who had a serious health problem and had to be taken to Rhodes Hospital.
