The municipality of Varis-Voulas-Vouliagmenis with its announcement, refutes reports concerning alleged injury bathed by rabbithead on a beach in Varkiza.

As he points out, he made direct contact with the competent port authority, local health structures, the City's Civil Protection and associated services, without any confirmation of the particular incident.

And he adds: ‘The municipality is constantly following issues relating to the safety of bathers and is in constant cooperation with all competent agencies. In the event of any incident requiring public information, citizens will be informed directly and responsibly by official sources.

At the same time, we call on citizens to show calmness and to carefully evaluate information reproduced without official confirmation. Dissemination of uncrossed information may cause undue concern and unduly harm to the image of the region.".

"It is recalled that the presence of hareheads in the Greek seas is an existing phenomenon monitored by the competent authorities and the scientific community. However, according to official information to date, there is no reason to panic for bathers, while citizens must follow the general safety instructions and inform the competent authorities immediately if they notice anything unusual. The Municipality of Varis Voula Vouliagmenis will continue to inform citizens responsibly and in good time about any issue relating to public safety and the protection of bathers," the announcement concludes.
