Faced with two counts of a felony character in Las Vegas is former world boxing champion, Floyd Mayweather, as he is accused of issuing a $200,000 check without sufficient funds available to buy luxury watch from a luxury reselling store.

49-year-old Mayweather had a scheduled initial appearance Monday before the Las Vegas Court, however he did not attend the proceedings in person, but was represented by a lawyer, according to Clark County Prosecutor's Office.

The next hearing is set for September.

According to court documents, Mayweather was charged in April with stealing, as well as issuing and using a cheque without sufficient funds with intent to cheat.

Prosecutors argue that in December 2024 the former boxer issued a $200,000 check through Wells Fargo bank to the Gold and Beyond luxury resale store in Las Vegas, although his account did not have the required balance.

The lawyer and Mayweather representatives did not respond directly to requests to comment on the case.

The new categories are added to a series of legal disputes facing the former champion lately.

Earlier this year, he filed a lawsuit in New York on charges of not paying rent for an apartment in Manhattan. At the same time, he is in financial conflict with more than one jeweler. He has also brought proceedings against his former financial manager in New York, claiming that he was the victim of a multi-annual financial fraud plan.

Mayweather, who won world titles in five different weight categories and left undefeated from professional boxing, announced earlier this year that he intends to return to action in the summer.

According to a previous announcement from the organizers, the American boxer was to be found in Athens for the "Battle of the Legends" event against Michael Zambidis, which is scheduled for June 27. In April he had confirmed his participation in the event himself.
